Early Soviet Poster Design: this excruciatingly long, well-illustrated essay served as one of my graphic design undergraduate thesis projects. It is a historic overview of late 19th-early 20th c. Russian art, social realism, poster design, and the history of totalitarianism. Are you metal enough to read it?
