I was born in a country that no longer exists, and I am a patriotic (oxymoronic) expatriate of its reinstated successor.

I am an 'assembly line' image producer, who prefers the company of dead men - Dovlatov, Bulgakov, Gogol, Donne and those living - in literary format - Mamleev, Iskander, Eco.

I find virtually nothing more interesting than Western medieval and Byzantine world, but I choose to focus on modern culture and foreign policy instead.

I understand a number of foreign European languages, but I occasionally struggle to maintain my own at what I consider an acceptable level.

I am quite possibly addicted to tea, feta cheese, and sour green apples. I am most certainly addicted to dogs. Not simultaneously.

I am partial to military marches, slavic folk, and the likes of Impaled Nazarene, Sex Machineguns, Megadeth, Danzig, Anathema, Devil Doll, Hank Williams Sr., Edith Piaf, Nunslaughter, and Axis of Advance, but I'd pick Utesov's WWII material over all of these bands combined.
